Job Title: Administrative Assistant                   
Reports to: Corporate Service & IT Department 
Location: Lindsay, ON Office 
Hours: 35 hours/Week 
Duration: 8 Weeks 
Salary: $17.00/hr CAD
Start Date: July 3rd, 2024

The role of Administrative Assistant is being hired through the Wage Subsidy - Canada Summer Jobs. The role of Administrative Assistant will be full-time (35 hours weekly) temporary positions,  spanning over the course of 8 weeks, from your start date.

Working alongside rural, remote, Indigenous and other communities, Pinnguaq supports the development of STEAM skills through innovative technology, art, and play. 

What does success look like at Pinnguaq?

  • Engaging with thousands of young learners and adults across the country through the delivery of community-centred workshops
  • Designing and deploying interactive experiences, online learning modules, and maker kits to teach STEAM fundamentals to all ages
  • Publishing the nationally-recognized Root & STEM magazine, create a space to explore diverse voices and stories in STEAM
  • Operating makerspaces in Nunavut & Ontario providing hands-on access to tools, equipment, and training for inquisitive minds and makers

Job Summary: 
We are looking for an Administrative Assistant to help with the daily administrative operations of the organization. The ideal candidate will be hard working and able to do a variety of office supporting tasks. Some responsibilities include organizing the office, prepping meeting rooms for guests, directing peers to the correct department for troubleshooting, answering calls and taking messages. Additionally the Administrative Assistant will play a large role in helping our team prepare for our office move!  Pinnguaq Association is dedicated to providing fair and comprehensive training to all employees to ensure a thorough understanding of assigned tasks. 

Responsibilities:
  • Providing assistance with packing and relocation of office equipment, stationary supplies, and electronics during our move 
  • Warmly greeting guests as they arrive at the office
  • Providing visitors with essential information and guidance
  • Managing incoming calls and recording messages
  • Organizing and dispatching mail 
  • Ensuring the upkeep of files and other various administrative tasks
  • Coordinating meetings and overseeing calendars 
  • Assisting in addressing any office-related concerns promptly and effectively
  • Other duties as assigned

Attributes and Qualifications: 
Equal consideration will be given to non-academic skills and experiences of candidates.
  • Must be between the ages of 15-30 years old 
  • Either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Hold a local address to Kawartha Lakes, ON. 
  • Capable of lifting 40-50 lbs safely 
  • Comfortable using programs such as Google Suite. 
  • Ability to communicate efficiently verbally and in writing

The approval for acceptance of a VSS lies with our People and Culture Team and Management. Additionally, please confirm you're completing the VSS in the correct region.

Compensation
